Ben Nevis - highest point in Scotland

Saw the top of Ben Nevis today. Interesting formation. Its head is usually in the clouds. The sunset was striking tonight. It rained, then sunset, then mist, then clear again. I thought Wisconsin weather was changeable, but this is fast. There's a different scene every 15 seconds! Ben Nevis is the mountain with the flat-ish top and the big bump to the right of the flat bit. We can see it from our lodge.

Glasgow to Fort William

Early, and I mean early, Saturday morning we took a taxi to Dublin Airport, boarded an airplane (not a jet - this baby had props) and flew to Glasgow. After picking up a car we headed north. Jon has nerves of steel. The drive north took about 3 hours. It's gorgeous here! It's also raining cats and dogs.
From the top: prop plane with Dublin sunrise in the background, Ireland countryside, Glasgow countryside, and the last two are views from our Lochaber Lodge.

Botanical Gardens in Dublin

Took the 41C bus into Dublin and walked all over the Botanical Gardens. The coolest thing was the patch of flowering artichoke plants. Second place, but still cool were the giant hostas. And third place went to the giant Irish deer antlers and skull (the deer has been extinct for 10,000 years.

Clothes for the trip

I was asked to show what clothes I packed: 2 pairs of yoga pants, 1 pair polypropylene long underwear, goretex rain pants, 3 lightweight wool shirts, wool beret, polypropylene gloves, favorite blue wool scarf, 4 pairs of socks and undies. I tied my goretex rain coat around my waist and put my down jacket and fleece in with the oil colors/easel/tri-pod and prepared panels.

Getting Ready

60 #s of art supplies and 12 #s of clothes. That's about right.
